Abstract:
A newly recorded species of
Habenaria (Orchidaceae),
Habenaria reflexa Blume, is documented from China for the first time. This species was observed in forest understory habitats at ca. 1 800 m elevation. It is morphologically characterized by strongly oblique, broadly ovate lateral sepals widest at base; unlobed, nearly triangular petals; deeply three-lobed lip with all lobes distinctly recurved; spur curved upward from base, bent downward by 180° near middle, abruptly expanding distally, and shorter than ovary. These combined traits clearly differentiate it from closely related taxa. This paper provides a detailed morphological description, high-resolution color plates, comparative diagnostic features with related species, and an image of the type specimen. The discovery of this species in China expands the known geographic range of
H. reflexa and contributes critical data to the assessment of orchid diversity in China and the floristic composition of East Asia.
