Abstract:
Barbella horridula Broth., previously reported from Indonesia (Sumatra) and the Philippines (Luzon), is now reported as a new addition to China based on a specimen collected from Medog, Tibet. The Chinese plant exhibits minor differences when compared with the type specimen, i.e., relatively longer laminal cells and slightly differentiated alar cells. It can be distinguished from other members within the genus in China by the narrowly ovate lanceolate stem leaf, longer laminal cells in the middle, and margins distinctly serrulate. In addition to a detailed description and microscopic illustrations of
B. horridula, a key for all Chinese species in the genus is also provided.
